Dog Toy Tips
Many household items that become dog toys, with or without you permission, can be dangerous and even fatal to
your furry friend.
Some potential dog toy hazards are:
Sticks and bones can splinter and cause choking or vomiting, ot they can perforate the mouth, throat or
intestine. Hard bones can easily damage teeth. Use hard, non-splintering chew toys to play fetch or to let your
pet chew.
Soft, latex toys can be shredded by a chewing pet. If the toy is shredded and includes a squeaker it can easily
be swallowed or cause your pet to choke.
Some dogs like to chew on or eat rocks. Rocks can cause severe obstruction in the intestines and can also cause broken teeth.
Be aware of sharp objects that can cut sking, feet, eyes or ears.
Different types of balls, such as tennis balls, super balls or hand balls may be too small for the pet playing
with them and can be swallowed and cause choking.
The most important thing to remember when choosing a toy for your dog, is to match the toy size to the pet's size. If the toy
is too small for the dog and can easily be chewed up it may cause a choking hazard.
